 Nine arch bridge 


  • The Nine Arch Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka and one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The bridge was designed to accommodate a challenging nine-degree curve and steep gradient.This bridge is 300 feet in length, 25 feet in width and 80-100 feet in height. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The Bridge can be reached by travelling 2km on Gotuwala road starting from Halpe Textile centre in Badulla Bandarawela road.


Galle Fort


  • Founded in the 16th century by the Portuguese, Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, before the arrival of the British. It is the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South and South-East Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and South Asian traditions.
  • The old town of Galle was once used as a trading port for spices and other goods for over 200 years. However, today, the fort has been transformed into a place of history, romance and beauty where travellers are warmly welcomed to dive head first into the exotic stories and be a part of this heritage site.
  • Fifty Lighthouse Street is set within the fort and offers the perfect base for you to explore the charms of Galle. Preserved in its original glory, stroll along the ramparts and admire the imposing structures like the Galle Lighthouse, Galle Clocktower and the Groote Kerk.


Horton Plains


  • Horton Plains in Sri Lanka, is the coldest and windiest location in the country. It consists of ecosystems such as Montane evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. At an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level, Horton Plains spreads across over 3,169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island. In view of the large number of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 30th July 2010.
  • Horton Plains is spread over the southern ridge of the central highlands in between Nuwara Eliya and Haputale. The tourists approaching Horton Plains from Nuwara Eliya find an entrance point at Pattipola while those approaching from Haputale find an entrance point at Ohiya.


Arugam Bay


  • One of the highlights of visiting Arugam Bay in this period is witnessing the mesmerising sunrises and sunsets. The eastern location offers breathtaking views as the sun rises over the Indian Ocean, casting a magical glow across the waters.For those who love the outdoors, the lush green paddy fields surrounding Arugam Bay are a delight. Visitors can explore the countryside on foot or by bike, taking in the refreshing sights of coconut palms and water buffaloes ploughing the fields.
  • Beyond nature, Arugam Bay offers rich cultural experiences with sites like Okanda Temple and Kudumbigala Monastery. These serene and historical landmarks provide a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s spiritual heritage, complementing the area’s natural beauty.


Sigiriya


  • Sigiriya Lion Rock is an ancient rock fortress known for its massive column of rock that reaches nearly 200 meters high. The site dates back to the reign of King Kasyapa (477-495 AD), who chose this site as his new capital. He decorated the walls with frescoes, and built an impressive palace right on top of the rock column, accessible only through the mouth of an enormous carved lion.
